This policy applies to the Praxis iOS app, watchOS app, widgets and related services (the "App" or "our services"). "We" refers to the developer of the App (an individual developer).
Your privacy matters to us. Praxis is a local-first personal productivity app: your tasks, habits, goals, journal and statistics are stored on your own device by default, and we have no way to read them. We process personal information in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and other applicable laws, following the principles of minimal collection, local-first storage, and clear purpose.
Please read this policy carefully before using our services. By using the App, you acknowledge and agree to this policy. For optional features involving personal information, you can enable or disable them at any time in Settings.
1. Definitions
Personal information: any information recorded electronically or otherwise that can identify a specific natural person, alone or in combination with other information.
Sensitive personal information: personal information that could endanger personal safety or property if leaked or misused, such as health information.
Anonymization: processing that renders personal information incapable of identifying a specific individual and not restorable.
Anonymous device identifier: a randomly generated, unique code on your device that contains no personal identity information. It is used solely so our server can recognize "which device" a request comes from, and cannot be traced back to you.
2. How we collect and use your information
We describe data handling feature by feature below. If you do not use a feature, no corresponding data transfer occurs. Every feature below can be toggled on or off in Settings at any time.
(1) Local management of tasks, habits, goals, journal and statistics (core features)
All content you create in the App (task titles and notes, habits and check-in records, OKR objectives and key results, journal entries and images, statistics, memos, etc.) is stored only on your device. We do not collect or upload it.
(2) iCloud sync (optional)
When you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs across your devices through your own Apple iCloud account (Apple CloudKit). It is stored in Apple's infrastructure and protected by Apple's privacy policy; we have no technical means to access it. You can turn it off anytime in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud.
(3) Task and habit reminders
When you set a reminder, the App requests local notification permission and notifies you at your chosen time. The required information (reminder title and time) stays on your device.
(4) Health data (optional)
When you enable features such as "sleep habits", the App requests read access to sleep data in Apple Health. This data is processed and displayed only on your device — never uploaded to our servers and never shared with third parties. You can revoke access anytime in iOS Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices.
(5) AI assistant
The App includes an AI assistant that can create tasks, set goals, and query your data. Data is handled in one of two modes:
Server mode: messages you send to the assistant, plus the minimal context necessary to fulfill your request (e.g. task titles, habit names, statistics summaries), pass through our server (entropyless.com.cn, located in Hong Kong) and are forwarded to the DeepSeek API for generation. Our server does not store any conversation content — it only logs call metadata (time, count, token usage, anonymous device identifier) for quota and cost control, retained on a rolling basis for no more than 90 days.
Bring-your-own-key mode: if you enter your personal DeepSeek API key in Settings, requests go directly from your device to DeepSeek and never touch our server.
Your conversations are never used for model training, advertising, or any unauthorized purpose. The AI feature is entirely optional; if you don't use it, no data transfer occurs.
(6) Subscription and purchase verification
Subscriptions are completed via Apple's in-app purchase; payment information is handled by Apple. To verify subscription validity, our server receives and verifies Apple-signed subscription receipts containing only the anonymous device identifier and transaction information — never your name, contact details or payment information.
(7) Data backup and export
The App provides backup and export features. Exported backup files are saved wherever you choose and are inaccessible to us.
(8) Crash and error logs
Crash and error logs are stored locally on your device for your own troubleshooting. They reach us only if you voluntarily contact us by email and attach them.
3. Permission list (iOS)
We request system permissions only when you use the corresponding feature. You may deny authorization; if you never use a feature, we neither request nor access it:
Notifications: task and habit reminders;
Health (HealthKit): read sleep data for the sleep-habit feature (optional);
Camera / Photo library: take or choose photos as journal attachments;
iCloud (CloudKit): iCloud sync (optional).
4. Third-party SDKs and data sharing
The App contains no advertising, analytics, push or tracking third-party SDKs.
Data flows only in the following cases:
DeepSeek: when you use the AI assistant (server mode), as described in section 2(5), solely to fulfill that purpose — never for model training, advertising, or other unauthorized uses;
Apple (iCloud / App Store / HealthKit): when you enable the corresponding features, processed under Apple's own privacy policies;
Legal requirements: where disclosure is required by laws and regulations, judicial proceedings, or mandatory requests from competent authorities.
Without your consent, we will not share, transfer or publicly disclose your personal information to any other company, organization or individual.
5. Retention and location
Local data: stored on your device until you delete the app or the data;
iCloud data: stored in your Apple account until you delete it or disable sync;
Server call metadata: retained on a rolling basis for no more than 90 days, then deleted or anonymized automatically;
Location: your core data lives on your device and in your own iCloud account. Our AI relay server is located in Hong Kong and only transiently processes the forwarding data described in section 2(5).
6. How we protect your data
All network traffic uses HTTPS/TLS encryption;
Our server is minimally deployed: key-only SSH, minimal firewall rules, the service runs under a low-privilege account, and API keys live only server-side — never shipped inside the app;
Server logs record call metadata only and never message content;
If a personal-information security incident occurs, we will inform you promptly of what happened, its impact, our response and the precautions you can take, and report to regulators as required by law.
7. Your rights
You may exercise the following rights over your personal information — either by operating directly in the App or system, or by contacting us:
Access and correction: view and modify all of your data in the App at any time;
Deletion: delete any data at any time; deleting the app removes all local data;
Obtain a copy: use the in-app backup and export feature;
Withdraw consent: disable iCloud sync, the AI feature, Health access, notifications, or any other optional feature in Settings. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out based on your prior consent;
Response time: for requests that cannot be handled on your own, we will reply within 15 business days. Reasonable requests are free of charge; for repetitive or excessive requests we may refuse or charge a cost-based fee.
8. Minors
The App is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 14. If you are under 14, please use the App under a guardian's guidance with their consent. If we learn that a child's personal information has been collected without parental consent, we will endeavor to delete it promptly.
9. Updates to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Updates will be published on this page with the date at the top revised accordingly. For major changes (e.g. significant changes to the purposes, types or sharing of data, or to how you exercise your rights), we will notify you prominently within the App.
